Thursday Night Detour with Pia
Join us for a free Thursday Night Detour on 11 August at 7pm. Detour Guide and professional observer Pia Canales shows us around Designing the Social. Or in this case, designing the anti-social. Come along and discover the exhibition from her point of view and explore the power of the angry mountain.
Pia Canales is a professional observer of everyday things. Thanks to her hyper-curious attitude, she knows a little about a lot of things, and thanks to her background in art, she knows too much about a few more things. Her favourite things are peanut butter, inter-dimensional aliens, and amateurs.
“I walk in circles, I only walk in circles, I walk in circles for hours, I keep walking in circles, every circle is different.”
Designing the Social: 100 Years of Idiosyncratic Living in the Netherlands
How has design contributed to new forms of living, working, and communicating in society? This question is central to the exhibition Designing the Social. Designers, researchers, and curators have selected and reinterpreted pieces from heritage collections and archives to tell us a range of stories about a century of social design.
The museum is free to visit from 5-9pm

Thursday Night Detour
Every Thursday night a Detour Guide takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions on display at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Discover design, digital culture and architecture from the perspective of your guide. Every Detour is different: you might end up working on a joint choreography or designing a space for insects.
