Fashion designer Charlotte Kan is always looking for new techniques. During the last few months she has been focusing on experimenting with photosensitive paint. In this workshop she guides you through this process. She shows how you can use paint, UV-light and a negative to print on a linen bag. Het Nieuwe Instituut is making a selection of prints from its own archive available. Which piece from the archives will you will be walking around with?
Charlotte Kan graduated in fashion design from the Willem de Kooning Academie in 2007. From then until 2015 she worked on her label for women under her own name. Inspired by the online community of makers and the desire to work in a more sustainable way, since 2015 she has only released her designs as digital knitting patterns. By now her designs are worn by makers all over the world. As coordinator, Kan was the driving force behind The New Haberdashery, a textiles shop and workshop in Het Nieuwe Instituut, from September 2016 to February 2018.
